In John We Trust – Broncos Offseason Review

Broncos

Trust John…Don’t worry Elway knows what he is doing. I just kept telling myself that. And I had to remind myself of that often. Because of all the text from friends or the constant stories on TV or the Internet about how the Broncos are falling apart.

It may not have been the highest scoring Super Bowl or the one with the most exciting ending, but if you can appreciate great defense…it was a beautiful game. The Panthers defense played well enough to win the game. But the Broncos defense put a bow on what could be a historically good season. More on that later. But in honor of Super Bowl 50, we here at 5th and 10 want to do a season review and list our 50 favorite things from the 2015-16 season. What an interesting would you rather. Would you like be a fan of a team that struggles almost every year since they came into existence like many of my friends here in Jacksonville. Or would you rather be a fan of a team that is good enough to make the playoffs quite often and then rip your heart out come January like the good folks in Cincinnati or Minnesota? We made it! We sat though 4 weeks of preseason only because we hadn’t had any football for months. We enjoyed 17 weeks of Regular season action that was as fun as ever. If you cheer for your hometown team, your fantasy team, or the team you invested a few dollars on that day, this season was as unpredictable as any I can remember. And now, we get playoff football! We are in the Golden age of television. There are so many great shows and so many ways to watch them. If you enjoy epic dramas like The Wire, 24, or Game of Thrones. You know a lot of great stuff happens on the penultimate episode. And then the season finale is used to tie up any loose ends or set up a nice cliffhanger to bring you back next season. While all the shows mentioned above are great. The best drama on TV is still live sports. And the penultimate week of the regular season lived up to the hype. As we head towards the end of the year, it’s only natural to look back. I’m sure like many of you, I’ve had some pretty major changes this year. It was an eventful year that as I look back on, was probably one of my most difficult. But with any challenge comes an opportunity for success. Sometimes with the stress and pressure of everyday life it is hard to focus on the wonderful little things in life. Continue reading “5th and 10: Thoughts from my Couch Week 16”

Life is full of surprises. Some, good. Some, not so good. My surprise came when I’m driving to work and I start listening to the BenchPoints annual Podcast. I couldn’t make it to the taping of this podcast because I’m so cool and popular I already had plans. The podcasts are always entertaining, I was a fan before Gavin and Caleb let me join them. But my pleasant surprise came when the boys not only talked about the NFL for quite awhile to begin the pod, but they talked about my beloved Broncos! Elf

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is watching the same movies every year. And of course my all time favorite is ELF. It makes me laugh every time. But this year, ELF was even better. My little 4-year-old daughter watched it with me. She watched the whole thing, laughed at the right parts, and truly seemed to enjoy herself. She’s already really funny and I look forward to watching more stupidly funny movies with her. Continue reading “5th and 10: Thoughts from my Couch Week 14”
